The Peavey PVM 50 is a super cardioid dynamic microphone that shares the same smooth response and quality performance as the PVM 44 but takes directional control a step further with a tighter pickup pattern. That tighter pattern is what makes it particularly useful on stage, where bleed from nearby instruments and monitor feedback are constant concerns. Point it at a vocal or an amp and it locks onto the source, rejecting off-axis noise from the sides and rear more aggressively than a standard cardioid. The neodymium magnet capsule with transformer output keeps the sound clean and articulate across a frequency response of 50 Hz to 16 kHz. For instrument recording it works especially well for dialing into the sweet spot of an amp cabinet, where precise placement makes a real difference in the final sound.
